The Corona Virus pandemic is affecting every aspect of life in America. Business, health care, economics, government, sports, schools, entertainment, and religion are all suffering the negative fallout from the spreading disease. It is certainly a major worry and requires the attention of every aspect of society, including churches. All churches and denominations should make every effort to support with their gifts the medical teams involved in treating the virus’ victims and those working to find a vaccine and a cure.

Perhaps some of the largest and richest congregations and ministries could chip in some of the millions of dollars they collect to help with this cause. Maybe some of those “faith” ministers who feel the need to buy $60 million airplanes, live in multi-million dollar mansions, and make millions on books and DVDs could spare a million or two to donate to the CDC or other public health organizations.

And, just maybe, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS/Mormons) could share a billion or so of its $100+ billion Ensign Peak Advisors secret fund. We previously reported how, last year, David Nielson, a whistleblower inside the LDS’ financial organization sent a letter to the IRS reporting on a secret church reserve fund. (http://www.marketfaith.org/2019/12/is-the-mormon-church-hoarding-billions-of-dollars/) He discovered that the LDS church hierarchy has a never publicly reported and untaxed portfolio of expansive investments in stocks, bonds, savings accounts, and cash, worth well over $100 billion. About $1 billion a year from church members’ tithings goes into the fund. And what does the LDS do with that money? Apparently nothing. It just gets bigger and bigger and, except for a couple of questionable past exceptions, the church never spends any of it.

One theory is that it is in reserve for the LDS church to use during the in the last days tribulation and in the Millennium. Well, maybe they could take some of that vast treasure to help their fellow mankind in a more present time of crisis. I’m sure a billion or two could go a long way to aid in production and distribution of Corona Virus test kits and in development of a vaccine. Just saying.
